New beginnings – even when they don’t coincide with the first day of a new year – always hold so much hope and promise. A door flung open to a plethora of opportunities, ripe for exploring and bringing to life. I can feel a quiet sort of excited restlessness rippling through me, the kind that seems to come with the beginning of every new venture and new year.
Perhaps you remember me from my first blog devoted to my love for books, started when I was fifteen. I still have many fond memories of it, especially the warm and passionate community it introduced me to. For so long my mind has wandered back to the possibility of starting afresh, something new for me to put my mark on. I’ve finally decided to push away the fears and doubts crawling in my mind – if not now, when? – and taken the plunge into territory that feels simultaneously familiar and unknown. New year, new beginnings, new directions.
So what is Word Drift? An outlet for my musings, my thoughts, my opinions. My own personal online journal – a collection of reflections, experiences and snippets from my life. Somewhere to share stories and find connection and meaning in this vast world. A place for my voice to be heard.
And who am I? A girl who’s trying to navigate life the best she can, seeking balance and purpose and understanding. A girl who still wonders where her soft introversion fits into a world that can often be loud and overwhelming. A girl who craves connection with others, the deep authentic kind that lights up her eyes and mind and soul.
It has been a joy to welcome you to Word Drift, whoever you are and wherever you come from. I am incredibly excited to see where this journey will lead me and I would love if you were to join me. You can subscribe to my newsletter using the form in the sidebar or keep up to date via Bloglovin‘. Say hello on Twitter and follow me on Instagram or even shoot me an email if you are so inclined.
I do hope you will find yourself returning time and time again.
By the time this post has gone live I will be in the city centre, trying to ignore the cold, counting down and ringing in the New Year. Have a lovely New Year’s Day wherever you are in the world and may 2017 be the year during which dreams are fulfilled.
